Produced in the depths of quarantine and finally slated for release is Majorettes’ new single “The Waves”. Born from a journey inspired a documentary on the art of sampling, the track was an ongoing project which became a lifeline for Majorettes throughout the long days of the pandemic in the absence of playing out and organizing parties which are so core to the group and the wider Brooklyn house scene they are figureheads of.

Enlisting three rising peers and producers to rework their original, the trio have curated a stellar EP package to soundtrack fall 2022 and beyond, with some of the most exciting and ones to watch talents in the international underground house scene hailing from Mexico, Colombia and Brooklyn respectively.

Por Detroit resident and Mexico City upstart Kodemul, delivers a body shaking, exhilarating rework pumped full of energy, rhythmic swirls and fills, and a spell-binding breakdown worthy of any dance floor. “We were blown away by Kodemul’s style and production from the moment we met and many of his tracks have become staples in our sets recently so it was only fitting that we got him on board for this project”.

Colombian artist, producer, and DJ, ELO, also know as Leeon, is an integral part of Bogotá's dance scene as well as the American underground at large. His rave brake with such grace that it feels extremely fresh and like an old friend at the same time. “While hanging out in the field at Glasontbury’s Block9 this past summer nerding out over each others new productions we knew it would be perfect to have him bring his impeccable style to “The Waves”.

Brooklyn-based artist PH Balanced takes “The Waves” into an ethereal realm with bubbling vocal effects, pungent pads, and plenty of twists and turns that are smooth, sexy and surprising all at once. “Everyone always ask to hear the PH Balanced remix over and over, you just don’t want it to end. He has such a unique presence in our scene here as both a dj and producer and we can’t wait for the world to soak up his brilliance”.

I read in an interview that the album was composed to provoke a sense of joy, and I feel that. It's startling how "fun" it feels; I think there's some magic in the arrangement and mixing, that elevates the sound design and melodies to great heights.. I can't work out how, which creates a glorious mystery on top of the great sounds. Octagonism
